Many Graduations

This year we had 3 kids' graduation ceremonies with no one actually graduating. Aislin graduated from kindergarten as the youngest in the class but in the top reading and math group. She excelled with her sight words, passing off 4 lists and ended the year reading to herself chapter books at the end of 1st/beginning of 2nd grade level. She made tons of friends and loved school. She was sad it was over but is looking forward to being a first grader.

I volunteered in the classroom with my friend, Marci, who also had a daughter in the class. We worked with reading groups every Tuesday and enjoyed many walks after discussing being first stage empty nesters. Aislin and Delanie are in dance class and soccer together as well so hopefully will remain friends.

Gavin graduated from Elementary school and there were absolutely no tears. 

Just joy. He can't wait for middle school to be treated like a big kid: chewing gum, talking in the halls, no more sitting on the floor. He had a great year as student body president, one of 3 kids flexing to 7th grade math (he got a 100% on his end of the year review math test), and settled into a group of friends. He played a lot of football at recess and started a booming 3D printing business under the table. This kid is ready.

Ms. Russell was Gavin's flex math teacher in 3rd grade and then his actual teacher for 4th and 5th. She found ways to challenge him and appreciated his sense of humor.

Ayden graduated middle school.

 Cimarron's tradition is to run the path from the school down to Legend High school. They get red paint powder (Cimarron's color) on the way down and then a dose of blue (Legend's color) once they reach the high school. 

Ayden really excelled this year. She took ownership of everything she's involved in and set goals for herself. And she accomplished those goals! She made straight A's this year, moved up a level in her piano, started violin lessons and practicing at home (earning the Outstanding Musician award in Orchestra), changed and maintained her eating habits to heathier options, and implemented a workout routine in the evenings. She likes some boys and some boys like her. She has church friends and other friends. Everyone always wants her advice. She's ready for high school.
