She's finally here! Jill patiently waited for a long 9 months like most pregnant ladies but had a bit of extra pressure on the process since she wanted to VBAC. The doctors wanted her to go into labor on her own but the longer it took the bigger the baby grew. It was the race between labor and too big of a baby, like Avery. But thanks to Jill's diligent trips on the treadmill, yoga ball, excessive yard work, and a full moon, she went into labor on her own the day after her due date. She kept my parents and me posted on her contractions and after a few hours we knew it was the real deal. So, Friday night (July 11th) I jumped into the car at 11pm and headed toward Tally where I met my parents and we hurried down to Tampa. However, once those contractions started coming, they came fast! Jill's water broke at home at 1:30am and we were still hours away. After that, she and Richard headed for the hospital and labor sped up and with no time for an even an IV or epidural, Evelyn was born at 3:12am. Jill was obviously taken by surprise by the entire experience, not planning on it going quite so quickly or without pain medication, but she did it and accomplished her goal of a safe VBAC and a healthy, much smaller, little girl. Gold medal goes to Jill! We arrived at the hospital around 6am and took a sneak peak before everyone headed off to bed. What a night indeed!
